Pronounced “Es-peck-tuckle dell Mont-sunt.” Located in so-called armpit of Spain’s prestigious wine country principally because of its rustic quality. Deep Ruby with intense fruit aromas and sweet floral spice, aged 15 mos in French oak, from a warm dry vintage. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and raspberry with currants, sweet cacao, floral & pepper spice. Fine big tannins, well balanced with long finish finesse, ending with herb and spice, adding slight alcohol warmth. — 2 years ago

Just stunning for a bargain Burg. Complex nose has all sorts of earth, stone, and underbrush to complement sappy, ripe dark cherry fruit and spice. Soft, ripe, and mouthfilling, it’s still quite youthfully primary, but has a gorgeous texture, along with ripe fruit and stony minerals. Nice clingy flavors and sneaky acids at the end.
