What an insane wine. Nose is classic Mossl slate with some baked apple and an uncanny airy quality. Green apple skins contrast wonderfully with the baked apple. Some sweet greens and light florals. Maybe uncooked English peas? What a palate my goodness the flavor explosion is just incredible. So complex and chewy. Dense but nimble and needs some time to sort itself out and it will but my goodness is this a wine with so much material. What length! Just crazy. So long. Sweet meyer lemon, phyllo dough, apple and pear just pump up the volume on the finish. Wow. Needs air. Will be back. Now with air this is lush, concentrated and delineated. Tremendous finish.
Wow after 3+ hours of air this got so elegant and complex. Amazing. 9.6 to 9.7. Best PB I’ve ever had. — 3 months ago
Gold Capsule. I love Markus’ version of this and prefer it to JJ Prum as it’s more reserved and less opulent. Stunning yet subtle nose of green apple, pear and peach plus some apricot notes and vanilla extract. Unreal slate and mineral that is so fine and refined. Just a super perfumed nose. Palate has ridiculous energy and acidity with jaw dropping purity and intense acidity. Racy. Really racy. Palate has terrific peach and green apple fruit. Maybe a skoche honeyed but the mineral/acid spine is just incredible here. Light yet intense and built for the very long haul. Brilliant. Really elegant now with air. Amazing. — 2 months ago
White cap. Trocken. What a wine. Molitor’s 21’s are just incredible and have so much acid. Really slatey nose. Lime zest and rock candy. Airy and breezy. Palate is so brisk and has terrific minerality that has texture and grip. Some lime and green apple fruit and super juicy but this is a high acid wine and I am here for it. After 19 hours open this is soaring aromatically with huge slate and lime zest. Palate is juicy and concentrated with sweet lime rock can’t and immense power and concentration and such insane vivid fruit. A brilliant wine and what a finish. 9.4 to 9.5. — 3 months ago
Markus Molitor dry mosel Riesling, Alte Reben. Extremely crisp. Enjoyable nose and palate — 2 months ago
Wow. Just wow. What a nose. Unreal confectionary and lime rock candy. So so pungent. Just like a constant dream of fresh pulverized rocks and lime zest. Palate is lean, proxies and very closed but has gorgeous apricot fruit, stuffing and concentration. Unreal purity and texture. Seems like it could also be 2-3% corked. Let’s see. This was like 2% corked but it’s still a 9.1 — 2 months ago
