Reserva "Appassimento" Valle de Elqui Carménère 2016

L Bram

Yum! Exactly what you would expect from Carménère grapes prepared in the appasimento style. Its smokey but overly, sweet but not overly, and I was surprised how well the two factors paired together in what seems quite unusual. Would gladly drink on its own all the time .... — 8 days ago

Payen Limarí Valley Syrah 2010

Saving the best for last from our friend’s personal collection this 💯 % balanced Chilean Syrah exceeds expectations. Big, smooth loaded with black and blueberries, tastes of burnt wooden matches, hints of vanilla, exotic spices finishes with wonderfully long and layered lingering legs. — a month ago

Carménère Syrah

I like this! Fruity, big, round, ripe, boy's butt, engaging wine for a cold day with cheese and crackers. — 15 days ago

Viñedos de Alcohuaz

Grus de Alcohuaz 2015

Mezcla tina, or “Red Blend”
Syrah dominant, a helluva barnyard nose!
Heavier bodied, with bits of blueberry and apple skins, some sweet grass, tobacco, aged perfectly, (I got lucky), with the tannins complementing the star fruit acidity.
50% Syrah, 14% Petite Syrah, 26% Garnacha, 10% Petit Verdot.
100% Yum.

This is the first red wine I have had from this area, usually known for Pisco production.
