Big Cork Vineyards

Maryland Chardonnay 2016

This RESERVE offering was opened at 6yrs old and has proven Dave Collins is an east coast premier winemaker. He has overseen the complete development of those 60+ acres and understands how to elevate what the terroir gives. This extended aged Chardonnay had all the class and finesse of an aged burgundy. Beautiful crème brûlée, Fuji apple, and a touch of poached pear on the palate with tremendous mouth feel and an elegant extended finish. I have had some losers in my aging library project, but this was a clear walk off home run! — 2 years ago

Aged 20 Years Tawny Port Blend

ESF
9.4

I think @Josh Morgenthau really nailed this note: recently finished Taylor Fladgate 20 yr which was always a favorite, but I picked this up in Duty Free and was blown away. Similar notes & flavor profile as TF, but the mouthfeel really sets this apart & above. So elegant, so refined, such great tension & harmony - the defined acidity highlight & elevate intense flavors. Bravo! — 5 months ago

Loggia Della Serra Greco di Tufo 2021

Delectable Wine
9.0

The 2021 Greco di Tufo Loggia della Serra’s alluring bouquet combines honeyed florals, peaches and mint. It’s soft-textured and sleek, with vibrant acidity and tropical citrus to elevate ripe orchard fruits. Mango and chamomile stick around on the dramatically long and complex finish. Riserva Rancia Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2001

Red and black cherry fruit mingle with floral notes, smokehouse meats, graphite and dried thyme in the intriguing nose. Palate has vivid black cherry, cranberry and blackberry fruit wrapped in notable austere Sangiovese tannins with subtle earthy tones. I nice brightness on the finish with mineral hints. Fantastic to sip and enjoy. It is missing a touch of textural depth to elevate it to a different level.

Domaine de Montille

This 2018 Bourgogne Pinot Noir from Domaine de Montille is a delightful expression of the varietal. With its medium ruby color and light to medium body, it exhibits an elegant and approachable nature. The wine boasts a medium finish that leaves a pleasant impression on the palate, while its medium acidity provides a refreshing balance.

As you raise the glass to your nose, a symphony of floral aromas unfolds, dominated by the captivating scent of roses and a bouquet of mixed flowers. The bright red cherries add a vibrant fruit-forward character, complemented by subtle undertones of thyme that lend an herbaceous touch. A hint of white pepper adds an intriguing spiciness, enhancing the aromatic complexity of this exquisite Pinot Noir.

Cuvée du Père Houdart Brut Champagne Blend

This is exactly what I wanted it to be. A stately shade of gold with few bubbles and a nice mousse. Such pretty aromas of spice on the nose along with roasted nuts, ginger, and cigar smoke. Apples with lemon and limes. Dried cherries and a touch of oak just to continue to elevate things.

Where to start? 40/40/20 PM/PN/CH from Moussy. But the real info you want and need is that this is primarily composed of reserve wines from 1971, 1975, 1976, 1982, and 1984 with the remaining 40% from the 2012 vintage. Those old vintages really make a difference here. Fresh while elegant. Refined yet lively.

The palate is nutty and yeasty. Nice tension with zippy acidity. You can tell this has a long life ahead of it so maybe you want to let it rest for a few years. Or you can open it and have fun.

Maison Bertrand Ambroise

Le Rognet Corton Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2013

Not quite as good as my last bottle in 2019. Lots of red cherry, strawberry and pomegranate fruit accented with deft touch of oak and just a hint of sous bois. A touch compact at opening but develops nicely wine air. Bright red fruit tones on the palate with brown spice, baked stones and a bit of dried earth. Quite fresh with good extract that plays nicely with the tannins. Finish of red fruit and Corton minerality. This bottle is missing a level of focus and depth that would really elevate the palate.
Drinking well now with potential for more developed. Certain to be enjoyable over the next 5 to 7 years.
