Côte du Py Morgon Gamay

Enjoyed at Pastis in Nashville at the sommelier’s suggestion, to pair with grilled Branzino and Boeuf Bourguignon. (I know.) Lovely nose, a bit astringent, delightfully fruit forward, a bit structured but not overpowering. — 2 days ago

Morgon Côte Du Py Gamay 2023

Huge amount of fruit. This seemed big and burly. Not what I was expecting from core du Py. Just ok — 3 months ago

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2023

One of my favorite wines I've had recently, the nose is an amazing combination of red fruit, violet, mushrooms and forest floor, all of which transfers to the palate. Fantastic to have with food or to drink on its own and contemplate. Hard to think of a better Beaujolais that I've had than this one — 2 months ago

Another surprise in the longevity and quality of a well made Bourgogne well aged complexity and length that belies the basic label — 3 months ago

Coeur de Roy Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2009

Medium deep garnet, ruby core with medium light garnet rim . This is quite meaty and deep on the nose , with earthy dark cherry , porcini , sweet blackberry and spiced sous bois . On the palate this is quite severe and serious , darker fruits , ripe blackberry , cherry and hint of blackcurrant, herbal hints. Quite gritty , slightly drying tannins , fresh acidity . Earthy , dusty dark cherry edged finish , ok medium length. Quite ambitious for a village and arguably not ready yet , tannins need a little more time to integrate. From now and over the next 5 years, if not longer . — 7 months ago

@Andrew Cullimore i’m still sitting on my ‘ 05’s from this producer. Stylistically not everyone’s cup of tea..

Yes , I would agree with you there @Ira Schwartz , and no it’s not my preferred style , but it is certainly a well made wine . Based on my experience with 2005 in general , you will probably need to leave your Dugat Py’s another decade !

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay Noir 2022

Another nice Cote du Py Morgon I tried recently, a tad more austere than some other similar examples from the region but still a nice wine for the price! — 2 months ago

A second great bottle of this. Never had this producer before this wine, but definitely will be on my radar going forward. Everything you want in a BoJo: fruit, granite, energy, depth, drinkability, balance. — 7 months ago

It's a cuvée which punches above its price point consistently, year in year out. For reference, it's possible to find it for less than 20 euro at wineshops all around France. Great stuff 👍
