Super nice. Tastes like Jura. — 10 months ago
Needed something a bit more predictable after that Overnoy. Step right up JJ Girard. Maddeningly consistent. Love this version of a great 1er Cru. Global warming is helping Beaune 1er Crus.
Nose is tight but has lovely spice, dark flowers and black cherries. This is such a serious 1er Cru. Wispy sour cherry, herbs. Super complex and opening by the minute. Fruit filling in big time. Sour cherry, dark cherries, early season cherries. Brambly now. So pretty and deep. Perfect hint of framing oak. Girard is so good. Palate is just gorgeous. Young but awesome. Showing some wood but huge sap, density and really fresh. Girard is always invigorating. Good concentration and really black fruited palate. Black cherries and they are so clear. Long palate staining finish. Persistent. So juicy and with such a serious structure. Plus that just maddeningly consistently delicious Girard fruit. — 3 years ago
Even though this wine is non-vintage, I understand that all the grapes come from 2019. This is a very dry, mineral driven sparkler, that settles relatively quickly, but gosh it’s very unique. The nose is a combination of white stone fruits, a hint of apricot, underripe tangerine, and an underlying funky, vegetal note I couldn’t quite put my finger on. At first, it comes off as pure minerals, with a rich, mouth filling texture and notes of wet stones. Eventually though, this amber colored beauty opens into tart yellow and white fruits, a bold lingering acidity, and some tart citrus on the lingering finish. Very refreshing and an enjoyable brunch or early afternoon pour. — 3 years ago
That's my jam. Smells kinda funky (nail polish) but tastes incredible. Preserved lemon peel, high acid, long finish. — 2 years ago
In honour of Frédéric Henry, owner of wineshop Mes Bourgognes in Beaune who suddenly died last Friday. Today at his funeral I decided to visit his favorite restaurant La Dilettante and ordered his favorite wine…. Pierre Overnoy. Enjoy life dear winefriends….it is moving fast. ❤️ — 5 months ago
Killer nose. Like killer. Lemon oil that is so deep and so precise. Just stunning. Lovely airiness. So deep and fresh. Palate is fantastic. Lemony and tense with great cut and precision. Stunningly pure and fresh. Nose gets some tree bark after air and the concentration and structure here are epic. Wow. What a wine. Long finish. Needs air. Will be back. Nose gets confectionary with air. Really a showstopper. Now with air the complexity and finesse show up in spades. Wow. 9.4 to 9.5. — a year ago
There's an uncanny similarity between the tasting notes of this wine with that of the 15' Overnoy Poulsard I had a couple of years ago, which leads me to believe that vinification or in particular, biological factors, may be the grand architect of these wines.
Pours out with an orangey hue of red. Reductive smokey aromas, followed by dried roses, twigs and grass, tabacco, dried herbs, and earth. The palate felt a little simple and short - cherries and grass, on a bitter, high acid finish.
So armed with lessons from previous Delienne openings, the wine went back into the cooler for an overnight dose of slow-release oxygen. This was when it took a unexpected turn towards the Poulsard memory. Cherries and grass had turned into the distinctive blood orange and tea notes. A slight acetic note arose, which integrated well with the palate giving a rather savory impression. A peculiar chicken essence note was especially memory-inducing. I felt like it put on some weight too, with a lovely silky texture. It's an oddball for sure, but not an unwelcomed transformation, as you see, the aforementioned Poulsard was my engagement tipple. — 3 years ago
