Domaine Le Grand Saint Charles

Château Pavie

Saint-Èmilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Christmas Eve dinner with ribeye steak. What a wine! Lovely aromatic of ripe blue fruit, crushed stone, leather baseball gloves. Almost black color. About as perfect a wine as I have had. Blue and black ripe fruit, softened edges but powerful tannins. Perfectly matched acidity. Structured brilliantly. Graphite, stone, hint of menthol, licorice. Nice medium + finish. Perfect wine yet still so youthful, many, many years left. Will wait a few years before opening another bottle. — 13 days ago

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Saint Guirons Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

Cork came out in 3 pieces, but no cork pieces left in bottle. Color is still medium-red, very faint browning on edges, massive cedar and cigar box aromatics, some pencil lead as well shows on palate, medium-weight, lovely balance, long, lingering finish, great older Bordeaux. Purchased at release for a song ($125/case) still have 5 left, this is one of my all-time favorite Pauillacs in the “non-1st, non-super 2d” category, amazing juice!! — a month ago

I’m amazed you still have any left! I didn’t have the wherewithal to buy many 82s on release or as futures, but what little I didn’t last 10 years as delicious as they were from day 1.

@Tom Casagrande, I did buy a large slug of 1982s, and fortunately I stored them in a friend’s basement in Queens, so they were not easily accessible. And when we moved to California, I had them shipped out but they were stored in Napa, so a good hour drive with limited opening hours. That’s probably what saved the 5-7 cases of 1982s I have left from being consumed earlier. Cheers!!

Nice drinking Bordeaux that is ready showing berry, cassis fruit, savory spice with notes of underbrush, graphite & tobacco — 2 months ago

Château Fleur Cardinale

Grand Cru Classé Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

Picked up a 2012 at Wine House for $60 on 12/21/2024

One of the best wines I’ve tasted all year especially in the sub $100 price range

Smells like fertilizer and funk (in a good way) but tastes like blackberries and cherries with hints of soil

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Tight as a drum at open. Loosened to trampoline tension after 2 hours. Finally was loose after 4. Spicy and hefty. More inward. A sophisticated mix and quite good but as with most Leoville Las Cases it needs to sit longer for the next iteration. — 13 days ago

Ironically, I just enjoyed a bottle of this in London and fully agree with your assessment. I am looking forward adding to my cellar. I have ‘82, ‘89, ‘01, ‘05, and ‘16 and it’s obvious that ‘09 needs to be in the mix. Only a couple of years for this juice to step to the next level and maybe
even before ‘05 . Nice find

Château Trimoulet

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 1988

Lovely vintage 1988, that still held up very well after all these years of storage. Some sediments so has to be filtered and aired before consuming. Lovely well rounded flavours. — 9 days ago

Drinking really lovely right now. Merlot doesn’t get enough love from pop wine media. And so so clean - how does 2010 Bordeaux drinking in 2024 not have a trace of Brett? Lovely. — 6 days ago
