Beautiful wine. Delivers 70-80% of the Hermitage for about a third of the price. Hung meat, rich dark fruit, scorched earth, velvety and long. Delicious. — 14 days ago

Deep fruity nose floral a bit rustic. Complex and stoney. Mineral. In the Trollat style more than other st jo I’ve had. Super rustic, great power and concentration. Delicious. After 6 hours this wine is ridiculous with a fruit intensity and stoniness that is compelling. — 20 days ago

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2011

The Phelps Pinot’s take awhile to come around. This 11 overachieves the vintage and has put on weight since I first tasted it at Phelps. Plenty of life ahead of this wine. I will wait another 2-4 years to open another. On the nose; dark cherries, cherries, blue fruits hues, dry cranberries plum and blackberries, limestone minerals, violets, red floral and red roses. The body is medium. The tannins silty/silky soft. The fruits are ripe & ruby. Sweet & sour dark cherries, cherries, pomegranate, blue fruits hues, dry cranberries plum, and blackberries. Silky volcanic minerals, limestone, cola with a touch of red vines, dark rich dry soil, hints of crushed rocks, fruit tea, violets, and red. Roses, beautiful rainfall acidity. The length, structure, length and balance are harmonious. The long, elegant, well polished finished lasts over a minute and is fruit and floral driven. @Compline...Master Sommelier Matt Stamps & Ryan Stetins new restaurant & retail shop downtown Napa. Food is very good & inexpensive. Good retail shop wines all $12-$48. Leave it to a Master Sommelier to find really good affordable wines. They have a bright future. — 4 days ago

When they started making them, they pretty good, not great. They’ve been inching the quality up every year and are now really quite nice, but I believe, they are not a pop & pour off the Fed Ex Truck. They take 5-6 years in bottle to really integrate and show their beauty.

Clos de Cuminaille Saint-Joseph Syrah 2015

(12.04.17) #DVR2017 — 9 hours ago

L'Olivaie Saint Joseph Syrah 2014

Really opened up from a very reductive state. Diaper and cabbage gave way to roasted black plums, espresso, savory meat, mint, and granite. Dark and umami driven Syrah, left me wanting to explore more of this producer. — 4 days ago

Vieilles Vignes St. Joseph Marsanne Roussanne Blend 2016

In a weird place now. Gorgeous nose. Honeysuckle and lemon zest. At first just a tad watery. Takes an hour to wake up. Then it’s great. A prototypical Fass Selections northern Rhône white. Balance. Minerality. Acidity and of course classic Northern Rhône white heavier fruits but well balanced and harmonious. A worthy successor to the stellar last 4 vintages but it needs time to open up. Bought from Fass Selections. — 18 days ago

Altitude 300 St. Joseph Blanc 2015

Cheers to Monday holidays in Feb. Never mind the presidents, I’m celebrating affordable, excellent winter white wine. Peaches and cream nose... rich and creamy on the palate, balanced by a nice zip of acid...floral, peaches, lemon zest... like a creamsicle, but with stone fruit. 🍑🎉 — a day ago

16.5/20 (89/100) Вино с элегантным ароматом сливового и вишневого варенья с нотой тимьяна. Тельное с довольно высокой кислотностью и вяжущими танинами. Ягодное во вкусе. (12.04.17) #DVR2017 — 9 hours ago
