Vaillons Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2018

Oyster shells, great minerality, very balanced. Great purity. Iodine & lemon on the nose. Fabulous right now. Great pairing with scallops. Another winner from @Lyle Fass. — 9 days ago

Gorgeous wine and nose. So clean and pure. Seashells, minerality, lime blossom, hint of gras. Palate is ripe and rich with lovely purity and freshness and such laser like precision. What a finish. Does now quit and pulverizes your palate with wet stones, lime blossom and limestone. Stunning and many years to go. — 2 years ago

Cote de Lechet Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2014

Obviously more evolved than the 2017 Lechet, but lovely minerality and starting to get the fatness Chablis develops with aging, balanced, long finish, this is quite fine!! — 17 days ago

Montmains Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2015

Chablisien profile but very rich.

Nose is rich. Almost buttery. Not oaky. Perfumed though in a lovely way. Really pretty.

Palate has green apple. But almost like it’s baked. Some minerality. But not a screamer. Really delicious. Rich on the palate.

A very enjoyable wine if a bit atypical.

As this opens its spectacular. I shouldnt really go crazy on it bc the vintage is so reviled. But it’s amazing. Rich yet elegant. Aromatic. Complex. Wow.

Bought from fass selections.

Finally got myself a bottle of one of the rarest wines I import. Only got an allocation in 18 for the first time. Anyway this is an insane bottle of Chablis. It’s basically Fabien’s Grand Cru. Nose is spicy and mineral. Sea water, hint of discreet wood. So salty. Nose is so classic and the most ethereal of the Dauvissat wines. Wow, the palate is so intense and explosive. Awesome minerality and electricity. Juicy and so pure. Backwards and will need air. So much sap and dry extract. Lime echo on the finish. So so long. Awesome power, majesty and density. What grip. What an intense wine. The length is crazy. — a month ago

Chablis Chardonnay 2017

OMG 2017 Chablis, what a vintage you are!!

Nose has slightly grassy notes, sweet pineapple core and wet, crushed limestone.

Palate has very zingy lime, lime flesh, tart green apple, lemon peel and drying mineral dust. Medium-long finish.

Decanted only about 30m, more time needed.
We're enjoying our first fire in the chimenea on this cool late summer evening, just one of many to come the rest of the year.

24 Hour Update: Acidity has subsided, wet limestone is more prominent, pineapple notes are more core and less sweetness today. I knew this just needed more time to come around, fantastic.

Have you had many 2017 White Burgs to see if the comparison continues further south? ‘14 an absolute favorite of mine for whites!

@Michael Herzog I do own a bunch of 17 Burg, some is at the house, some on pre-arrival still. Haven't opened anything aside from Chablis for 17. Likely I'll wait until at least '20 before I get to them.

@Michael Herzog 17 >>> 14 because more depth and fruit and better balance. 14 doesn’t have the depth. It has acid but is not aging as well as I thought. 17 is overall better.
