Assume that’s the vineyard in the inked drawing on the label. Fancy stuff at $48 per bottle…
Lovely deep red to purple color. Smells like musk, woods, campfire on your clothes. Maybe a cranberry or elderberry tone under it all. Interesting smell to it for sure. Flavors are also interesting. Old time tonics and herbal extractions. More elderberry stuff. Absinthe. Or is that Jegermister? The fruit is there too, but it’s under the savory and strange stuff. This is a wine to age. But it’s good now too if you are into the strange and earthy side of Syrah. A true terroir driven drinking experience. I can see the coast valleys of Mendo in the flavors. — 3 years ago
Elegant - colour is giving way to a more brickish tone. Still good tannin and structure. A hint of cigar tobacco on the nose, perhaps a hint of coffee. Elegant and well refined - long finish. Lovely. Comparing to its 10 year younger cousin in a vertical. #beaucastel — 5 years ago
Color of purple with slightly gray and blue tone on the rim. Nice legs. Nose of good aldehyde, dried strawberry, prune, dark cherry, ripe grapes, and leather. Taste is smooth, with addition of soft tannins, suckling acidity, a bit minty, a tiny bit sweet, some spice, dark fruits, and zest. Aftertaste is medium long, a revisit of the taste, and quite tasty. Good one. — 4 years ago
Medium yellow. Meyer lemon, lemon curd, yellow delicious apple, underripe white peach, sea salt, yeasty, briny, stony minerality, and hints of cheese rind. Tart citrus and high tone minerality on the palate. Elevated acidity, 12.5% abv, medium+ finish. Importer’s notes: From the right side of the Serein River, situated right next to the Grand Cru Blanchot. A soft and elegant wine, the Montée de Tonnerre is situated in the same line as the Grand Crus. The notable white clay helps to develop intense fruit and floral aromas. The older vines add the depth and complexity in the mouth. Regarded by many as the best and most consistent Premier Cru in Chablis. Lime-clay soils with Kimmeridgian fossils. Fermentation and maturing in stainless steel tanks. — 5 years ago
Popped and poured; no formal notes. This is a step up in complexity with a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The Syrah plays a heavy role and sets the tone for color and aromatics which is dark purple and olive and black pepper respectively. The fruit is more mixed brambles with some licorice and baking spices. This is made with the estates’ younger vines and it certainly has a youthful energy about it. — 2 years ago
An Etna Rosso DOC, blend of 95% Nerello Mascalese and 5% Nerello Cappuccio, deep Ruby, purple edges, with aromas of ripe fed fruits, herbs and earthy notes. On the palate flavors of cherry, strawberry and red plum with pepper spice and herbs with a mineral tone. Medium+ finish, fine tannins, ending with fruit and a smoky earthy character. Nice value! — 3 years ago
Bone dry and very elegant with super fine bubbles. Champagne-esque. Nice lingering toastiness and mineral tone on the finish. — 5 years ago

Vintage 2019 | Seems closed to me but opens up in the glass with impressions of pear, minerals, a stinky tone, nougat and white pepper. Nice bitters. Very good effort. — 2 months ago
