Saxon Brown

Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

2017 vintage. Winemaker Jeff Gaffner is sourcing this fruit from the original block of this vineyard and only one of three winemakers doing so. Big, brusque nose. Some candied fruit, some usual suspects (cola nut, rhubarb, caramelized cranberry, dark plum and cherry) oot und aboot. Both finesse and power evident during the experience. I will say this wine is waay underpriced relative to the market and a banging value. 3.18.23. — 3 years ago

@vinokeeno : Ah. Ok. Unless it’s a lean style, not necessarily my Sonoma style. Either lean or green (whole cluster use) is my style!

Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018

We had the 2018 Vintage on 6/1-2/26. A terrific PN. Nice mouthfeel. New World. Black fruit and baking spice on the bouquet. Black cherry, black raspberry, candied apple and mild spice on the palate. Smooth finish. Good wine, from a good wine maker from a good vineyard — a month ago

Vin de Terroir Granite Crown Syrah Blend 2000

Opening granite crown is always a treat. So much warmth and spice left in it, a marvel as this was the first vintage that Gideon bottled I believe — 7 months ago

Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023

2023 vintage. The least imposing Gap Crown’s Vineyard Pinot I’ve ever had. If you like your California Pinots on the lighter side, this is for you. 3.11.26. — 4 months ago

Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir 2020

This is everything a Sonoma Coast Pinot can offer. Exquisite flavor profile of blackberries, sage, thyme. Fantastic fruit and tannins that are harmonious with great structure and acidity. A jaw dropper. — 4 years ago

Porongurup Riesling 2016

Tasted blind, presented by Sue Bell. I picked Riesling, Australian and missed Porongurups WA. A brilliant Riesling made by Rob Diletti at Castle Rock WA. Lovely aromatics of Musk and Bath Talc. At 5 years the acid had settled and the citrus was going towards stone fruit. Really enjoyed this. — 5 years ago
