Sandlands

Amador County Chenin Blanc 2018

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several days. Consistent throughout. The 2018 pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of Bartlett pear, passion fruit, lanolin, honeysuckle and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and soooooo wooly. These Sandlands Chenin Blancs are fun with some age. Drink now through 2033. — 3 days ago

Sandlands

Sonoma County Trousseau 2024

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three days. Consistent throughout though, I think I slightly preferred it after some air on Day 1. The 2024 pours a pale ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with winsome notes of bruised strawberry, watermelon Bubblicious, cranberry, pink flowers, and wet cement. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Tegan has become a master of Trousseau as this is about as good as any you will have, including the Jura. Drink now through 2034. — 2 months ago

What a treat to serve this with a couple of steaks fresh off the grill and a chipotle-flavored tomato bread salad. This wine elevated the meal and delighted our guests! — 2 days ago

David Hirsch passed away this week - so this is a tough one. Gained complexity with time 4 days under Argon gas line. Mostly raspberry driven. No cherry here…. — a month ago

Oberon

Napa County Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Blackberry jam, raspberries, slight vanilla, not the biggest cab but bang for the buck is good, and it is reasonably balanced at “only” 13.7%. — 2 months ago

Banshee

Sonoma County Pinot Noir 2021

Scents of vanilla, white pepper, raspberry and leather that were met with flavors of white pepper, leather and hint of raspberry. Not overly complex, but very enjoyable. — 9 days ago

At Bouchon (Venetian/Vegas). First time trying this; paired with vegetable gnocchi that had more of a tomato based sauce. Smooth. — 2 months ago
