Arista Winery

Perli Vineyard Chardonnay 2017

17’ Arista Perli Vineyards Chardonnay. One of only 18 vineyards on top of an AVA that was just created in 1997. Decanted for an hour. Medium gold in color. Bright pear & stone fruits, spices on the nose. “Sells it”. Pear, yellow apple, honey, pinenuts, moderate acidity/oak. with lively texture flowing through the finish. Unlike Matts Ferren Wines, these aren’t as big in the shoulders. Beautifully balanced Chardonnay. Worth checking out the entire Chardonnay line up since 2016’s. Cheers. Edit- This wine will taste even better in 2021+ — 5 days ago

Beaux Frères

The Beaux Frères Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018

Smoky nose with blueberries. Medium body, somewhat dry, mildly acidic. Blueberries, raspberries, and ginger on the palate. Exceptional for a young wine! — 13 days ago

Valenti Ranch Syrah 2015

At a Mendocino wedding stumbled on this tasting room a few years back. Brought this home and last night, well, WOW. More of a Grenache gestalt than Syrah after 90 minute decant, pure and layered red bright berry, some bay leaf. Wish I had another bottle to see how this ages. — 19 days ago

Helioterra

Redman Vineyard Ribbon Ridge Arneis 2017

Amazingly lovely wine. White peach, pear, light almond. It’s delicious. Small wine maker in Portland, Oregon who is adept at making amazing obscure white wines. This Arneis is the last I understand so try to get some before it’s gone. Won’t be produced from this vineyard again. — 8 days ago

Estate Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

Tonight's wine is the 2017 Ridge Estate Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.

The nose has rich dark fruits of black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, licorice, chocolate, violets, graphite and rich earth.

The palate reveals black cherry, blackberry, black currant, green bell pepper, soft toasted oak, graphite, licorice, spice, violet and earth.

This wine is full bodied filling the mouth with rich notes, medium + acidity and medium + mouth coating grippy tannins that moves nicely into a long black fruit finish. This wine does not disappoint for a second wine from Ridge. I hope your week has been going well and we have all been safe and healthy. Let's look forward to the weekend with more openings. Have a great rest of your week. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Never been a bad Ridge in my experience. Not even corked.

Ridge Vineyards

Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2003

Decanted 2 hours before drinking. Still a bit primary as the tannins are not yet fully integrated but it is indeed showing terrific now. Shows an excellent balance of richness and elegance. Sweet black and blue fruits, creme de cassis, graphite and hints of licorice. Finishes wonderfully long, alluring and not at all heavy. — 13 days ago

Pinot Noir Rose 2019

First 2019 Sonoma coast Rose of the season. Lovely, focused yet light Pinot noir rose. Light pink color...tart cherry and watermelon nose. Nice weight and balanced acid/fruit. Round, ripe, just enough sweetness, but with enough complexity to rise above flabbiness or boredom. Rose can be boring... but not this one! — 14 days ago

Ridge Vineyards

Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2002

Ridge,2002, California Monte Bello. Color- dark red purple with slight bricking. Nose—dark blue/red fruit and perfume spice-raisin and creme brûlée throughout with a mint scent lingering. A fantastic luscious feel in the mouth bursting of dark cherry flavors, with some earthy spices, cedar and soft coffee mocha grounds, the sweetness from the creme brûlée is subtlety throughout. A long finish but flavors are restrained and tannins are integrated but not totally resolved giving this wine a definite opportunity to age more. Can’t wait to try in a year or two! — 6 days ago

Full and ripe without going overboard. Dark, brambly fruit, black pepper, tobacco, vanilla. Not the most complex wine but very delicious. This is in the zone at 8 years old. — 3 days ago

On clearance?! Bahahahaha !!! These wines should never be on clearance. Easily some of the best expressions coming out of the extreme Northern California coastal area. Excellent! — 2 days ago
