From a not-so-great year, but this is really nice. I just love this winery. Nose has dark, tart chokecherry, intense gravelly minerality, a bit of spice. Medium bodied and on the leaner side, the flavors are bright and clingy. Tannins soft and in check, unlike some other rather astringent and green ‘17s. Textbook. — 2 years ago
Powerful for a Valtellina, and a little on the austere side. Mature nose shows chokecherry and leather, mahogany scents, along with lots of crushed rock. Intense but lean in the mouth, with zingy acidity and zippy crisp cherry and lots of minerality. Still a bit of puckery tannin. My brother brought this back from Italy a few years ago for me. Oh Tempranillo..... will California prevail over Spain and not give me knives in my stomach? Only time will tell. Now the wine....
Nuts....earth....bitter chocolate on the nose.
Chokecherry. Not very complex but I do like this wine.

So good! Glou Glou! Green pepper, strawberries, tree bark, moss, plums, chokecherry, Logan berry, all the berries. Just drink it. — a year ago
A beautifully balanced wine. Nose has walnut, gravel, iron, intense ripe chokecherry, a little eucalyptus thing. Mouthfilling flavors but in a medium intensity, natural, not overly extracted style. Tannins are quite soft, and there’s nice acidity. Very nice, lengthy finish turns quite minerally and savory. — 2 years ago
I got 4 of these for a song, and as time has passed, each bottle is better than the last. Obviously I suck at identifying when a young wine could actually improve. This is the last bottle and it’s just relaxed and delicious. Complex nose has humus, mocha, dark cherries macerated in chokecherry brandy, Christmas spice, and gravel. Soft, fluid, and flavorful, with nice acids, it’s got really nice graphite-inflected cherry fruit. Tannins barely present in the soft-textured finish. — 2 years ago
Terrific Chianti. Nose features loads of gravel, balsamic notes, intense macerated chokecherry, spice. So soft, perfectly mature, great flavor concentration, tannins mostly resolved. Fruit in the initial palate, but transforming into leather and autumn leaves by the end. — 2 years ago
Delicious and complex. Not yet fully mature. Striking, youthful color. Nose has tons of gravel, iodine, chokecherry liqueur. Concentrated and medium-bodied in the mouth. Great acids. Youthfully assertive but reasonably soft tannins. Flavors on the savory side and linger. Can’t wait until the Brasato is done to pair this. — 3 years ago

Dark, inky hue with a nose of crushed violettes and wet cement. Quite floral on the palate with dark chokecherry and currant, leather, with chewy tannins. Happy Thanksgiving all! 🍷 — a year ago
