Château Pavillon Figeac

Château Figeac

Petit-Figeac Red Blend 2021

A great option as a 2nd brand, still delivers a truly unique and balanced wine based on Merlot, Cab Franc and Cab Sauv., a bit less full-bodied that the usual Figeac. Loved the progression as it opens, nicely complex, very long finish and refined texture and solid mouthfeel. Never disappoints! — 5 days ago

Domaine du Pavillon Meursault Pinot Noir 2014

Sturdy. Plenty of oak and tannin with highish acid. Needs a couple hours of air then starts to open up. Intensely structured wine. Not giving up a ton of fruit. Mushrooms and cranberries. Long finish. Yeah that’s pretty pretty good 👍🏼 — 2 months ago

"Le Pavillon" Ermitage Syrah 2020

Power, poise and precision. Black fruit galore, spice, bacon and butcher shop, bonfire, smoke, olives, garrique - an incredible nose that gave me goosebumps. Perfect balance, immense intensity and just spot on. — 3 months ago

Château Pavillon Figeac

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

This is surprisingly good for a bargain-priced St. Emmie. Nose shows clear, ripe plummy Merlot fruit, some clay-inflected earth, some underbrush, and subtle, pleasant vegetal note. Very nice balance and mouthfeel. Not a bruiser, but more on the elegant side. Fruit, tannin, acids all nicely dancing together. I like this a lot! — 2 months ago

@Tom Casagrande, I have always had a soft spot for St. Emilion, my favorite of all the Bordeaux communes (well, at least taking pricing into account)!!

Château Figeac

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 1998

Opened and double-decanted several hours prior to service; enjoyed over the course of three hours. The 1998 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with beautiful, ripe red cherries and a total smoke show in the earth department, giving me an impression of iron-rich earth from an Alpine forest floor. Wonderful stuff. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose with the ferrous earth notes doubling down. The finish is long. I would like to have more Figeac in my life. Drink now after a whole heap of air or through 2068. — a month ago

Pavillon Blanc White Bordeaux Blend 2020

Tasted this one blind. First thing i wrote in my notes was ”really tasty”. I thought this was a Sancerre with some oak. Really fresh with depth. Not a combination I usually find in a wine like this. Impressive. — 2 months ago
