Tonights wine is the 2019 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou. Saint-Julian Bordeaux Blend 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, chocolate, spice, black pepper, minerality and earth.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, green bell pepper, black pepper, spice, vanilla, minerals and dark rich earth.

This is a full bodied wine well balanced medium + acidity and medium + mouthcoating firm grippy tannins that taks you into a long black fruit woody finish. Really opulent wine. The nose was all creamy oak with dark berries and a dash of spice. So dark and concentrated on the palate - full bodied with rich ripe fruit and creamy textures. Quite fine and directional tannins. Not an easy wine to work through for me, but it was certainly a crowd favourite. Blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot.

The 2020 Croix de Labrie is rich, sumptuous and a real head-turner. Jammy dark fruit, blood orange, mint, cinnamon, sweet oak and mocha are all amplified. Plush, silky tannins wrap it all together beautifully. The 2020 is opulent and flamboyant, but also remains light on its feet, showing impeccable balance and tons of class. Sometimes a restrained nose is the tighter, more impressive act. Less room for error. If this was a smidge oxidized, it wouldn't be what it is. Which is seriously wonderful Sauvignon Blanc. Voluptuous but very Sancerrian - precise.

On the palate flavors of blueberry, plum and cherry with some cacao and licorice notes, adding in oak and mineral spice.
