Les Moutonnes Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2015

Syrah from Cote Rotie is so different. It is vibrant clean red fruit. Very balanced with a hint of white pepper and tannins that evolve from when the wine first enters your mouth to when you swallow giving it complexity. Everything is in sync, nothing over bearing. This Syrah was near full body, remained mid mouth, didn’t migrate to your cheeks like a Shiraz. It wasn’t over powering with earthy dark fruit like a Walla Walla Syrah or as alcoholly as a Ca Syrah. So great drinking yet not impactful. Also a bit of an tartaric acid finish. However, brought back fond memories of our visit of the winery back in 2018. Mother and daughter running the small family winery. If I remember correctly only about 10 has of the prestigious Cote Rotie region. — a month ago

Earthquake Lodi Syrah 2005

I bought this on a trip to California almost 11 years ago. Fond memories from my trip but Lodi was nothing special but the wine is. Loads of fruit as expected with a medium sweet finish. — a month ago

Napa Valley Petite Sirah 2015

I’m quite fond of this wine. New age dArk fruits with some faint raisin up front , jammy, nice blend of subdued tannins and acid. Good value for $38 and solid substitute for a cab. Served with a pork loin an fixings. — a month ago

Viticole Cuvée Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay 2018

2018 might be even better than the ‘17. Lemon curd, light tropical notes, but steely Chablis-like acidity makes it all work. Another lovely WScott Chard, esp. for those that are not as fond of the warmer siblings father south. — 2 months ago

Domaine Sainte Claire Chablis Chardonnay 2018

Was very fond of this wine given my normal indifference to most Chardonnay varietals. Bright and florally with a smooth custard finish. — a month ago
