2019 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 5 minutes. Medium-medium heavy body. Fairly fleshy. Big primary fruit with little nuance evident currently. Would probably be happier with this in 5-8 years where the nuance would have crept in and the overt fruit pared down a bit. 05.28.25. — a month ago
This time around was very good: nice smell and some fruit. Went very well with braised leg of lamb and winter veggies. — 5 months ago
Just a gorgeous nose. Sweet, ripe but never treacly cherries. Mid season. Birthday cake. Cranberry skin. Poised and detailed. Wow this is a 9.6 nose. So nimble yet expressive. Huge finesse and refinement and that classic 21 achy beauty. My goodness this is so elegant. Barely any tannin and needs some time to develop but this is very fine. Palate is complex and so fine. Juicy and so clean. Unreal pitter patter of a finish. — 2 months ago

So, this Sancerre is one of those IYKYK wines that I purchased nearly 20 years ago and lost in my cellar — Edmond Vatan (who I believe has been deceased for some time, his daughter is running the tiny estate these days) made around 500 cases of this amazing Sancerre, but the dumb ass typing this note thought it’d easily last 20-25 years (2002 being a fine Loire vintage) — obviously I significantly miscalculated, as this should have been consumed 10 or more years ago. With that said, with fresh grilled tuna steaks, the wine is standing up well, very nice richness, still excellent acidity. but any freshness has long ago faded. Yet, my admiration for Monsieur Vatan is only enhanced by the fact this shows pretty darn well for a wine not likely intended to be aged as long as the dumb ass typist thought it should!! — a day ago
