Château Figeac

Petit-Figeac Red Blend 2021

A great option as a 2nd brand, still delivers a truly unique and balanced wine based on Merlot, Cab Franc and Cab Sauv., a bit less full-bodied that the usual Figeac. Loved the progression as it opens, nicely complex, very long finish and refined texture and solid mouthfeel. Never disappoints! — 4 months ago

Château Pavie

Saint-Èmilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Delectable Wine
9.4

The 2014 Pavie is one of my preferred vintages of the decade, perhaps because the growing season put a leash on its power. It has a forward and generous nose, but there is clearly as much complexity as the Figeac that precedes it: dark berry fruit, iron filings, cedar and just a hint of tobacco. Quite involving. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, harmonious and pliant, decent acidity with a silky smooth, persistent finish. This has some way to go. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2024)

Château La Rose Figeac

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

2018 vintage. 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Nathalie d'Espagne took over in 2013 and the wines have gained in finesse ever since. Organically farmed since 2009. Beautiful nose with flowers, crushed strawberries, coffee, and subtle spices. In the mouth it displays juicy red fruit, spices and an intriguing minerality on the finish. Fine length too. Very good value for Pomerol. Abv. 13,5%. — 2 days ago

Drinking really lovely right now. Merlot doesn’t get enough love from pop wine media. And so so clean - how does 2010 Bordeaux drinking in 2024 not have a trace of Brett? Lovely. — 5 months ago

Château La Tour du Pin Figeac (Moueix)

St. Emilion Red Bordeaux Blend 1998

Truncated dinner party notes. Surprised this was still kicking as vigorously as it is. Yes, still red fruit, but with secondary and tertiary notes adding so much complexity. Delicious. — 7 days ago

Château Cormeil-Figeac

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several days. The 2020 pours a deep purple color with an opaque core and a ruby rim; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe black and red fruits: cassis, black cherry, raspberries, plums, pencil shavings, purple flowers, licorice, iron rich earth and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ with some really nice minerals. This was a surprisingly delightful, classic, if not somewhat rustic Right Bank Bordeaux. I really dig this. Drink now through 2035. — 3 months ago

Château Pavillon Figeac

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

This is surprisingly good for a bargain-priced St. Emmie. Nose shows clear, ripe plummy Merlot fruit, some clay-inflected earth, some underbrush, and subtle, pleasant vegetal note. Very nice balance and mouthfeel. Not a bruiser, but more on the elegant side. Fruit, tannin, acids all nicely dancing together. I like this a lot! — 6 months ago

@Tom Casagrande, I have always had a soft spot for St. Emilion, my favorite of all the Bordeaux communes (well, at least taking pricing into account)!!
