Great Viognier-Mission Wines — 3 months ago
Tough Hermitage competition last night and it ranked slightly behind top producers JL Chave and Jaboulet (La Chapelle). Not quite as long and explosive, but who’s to complain — a year ago

Very nice, not too high in tannin — 3 months ago
Darn solid for $37 at WTSO. An open, friendly style, the nose leads with dark berry ooze, coffee grounds, low-toned stony minerals, toasted baking spices. Rich and soft in the mouth, it’s got lots of dark, clingy fruit and dark earth notes, with a saline echo. Tannins are rich but buried in the voluptuous texture. Pretty decent acids. Not super complex nor an ager, this will be fun to drink with daubes (what I have on the stove) and the like over the next few years. — 7 months ago

Northern Rhone; Tain l'Hermitage, France
Crushed ripe cherry, bacon & fat, crushed Hemlock needles, granite, damp compost, slight barnyard; Ripe black cherry, dried blackberry, black currant, red pepper skin. Tannins persist. Drink 2025-32+
Much brighter on both nose/palate than my other Hermitage experiences. Perhaps I prefer the dried fruit/leather notes showing with more age...
