Broken Stones Paso Robles Syrah Blend 2019

Very good Syrah blend. Edgy and peppery. High alcohol content. First time with this wine for me. Needed a good hour plus of decant to open and soften. Drank very well. A bit too smoky and rustic to rank higher but very solid. — 8 months ago

Rita's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

Every now and again I crave a hedonistic Pinot, and winemaker Russell Bevan‘s M.O. is BIG in every category. All knobs are turned up. — 6 years ago

Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018

We had the 2018 Vintage on 6/1-2/26. A terrific PN. Nice mouthfeel. New World. Black fruit and baking spice on the bouquet. Black cherry, black raspberry, candied apple and mild spice on the palate. Smooth finish. Good wine, from a good wine maker from a good vineyard — 17 days ago

Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023

2023 vintage. The least imposing Gap Crown’s Vineyard Pinot I’ve ever had. If you like your California Pinots on the lighter side, this is for you. 3.11.26. — 3 months ago

This wine from Saxum is a great value — smooth, even fruit; great balance overall. 79% syrah, 7% petite sirah, 7% grenache, 5% mourvédre. 97 points from Robert Parker and $129 when I bought it from K&L although market looks more like $160 now. — 7 months ago

Vin de Terroir Granite Crown Syrah Blend 2000

Opening granite crown is always a treat. So much warmth and spice left in it, a marvel as this was the first vintage that Gideon bottled I believe — 6 months ago

Saxon Brown

Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

2017 vintage. Winemaker Jeff Gaffner is sourcing this fruit from the original block of this vineyard and only one of three winemakers doing so. Big, brusque nose. Some candied fruit, some usual suspects (cola nut, rhubarb, caramelized cranberry, dark plum and cherry) oot und aboot. Both finesse and power evident during the experience. I will say this wine is waay underpriced relative to the market and a banging value. 3.18.23. — 3 years ago

@vinokeeno : Ah. Ok. Unless it’s a lean style, not necessarily my Sonoma style. Either lean or green (whole cluster use) is my style!
