Upon opening the nose was great... but the palette was muted and tight. It took until the third night to open up. And then the Lan was glorious Rioja! At ten years old there is no sign of maturity... and even at 3 nights the finish was clamping down. I’ll bury my other bottle and have the kids dig it up someday. — 6 days ago

This is not a big wine, maybe a little thin in the palate, but it has a good nose with great red floral aromatics and fresh fruit, red cherry, spicy raspberry, juicy plum, creamy vanilla, mixed herbs, candied flowers, incense, woodsmoke, leather and some crunchy, charred earth. The wine is ending with a great, fresh and mouthfilling acidity so that you want another sipp... — 3 days ago
The right amount of Funk ... Well rounded dark and red cherries, smoke, coffee, retama, eucalyptus, underbrush, mineral dry goodness with slightly high acidity and gentle tannins... BE A U TEE FULL — 12 days ago
Wow! On the nose, dark plums and black cherries, fresh dark liquorice.
On the palate. A first phase of dark plums, black cherries and black berries. Fairly quickly the dark fruit notes are cut through with black liquorice, secondary ripple effects of vegetation and hints of fresh mint. The final third engulfs the medley of flavours laced with fine leather. Medium tannin percolates around, staying for a final bow. Decanted 1hr and 45 min. Served with filet mignon with melted blue cheese, roasted vegetable medley sprinkled with goat’ cheese (sweet potatoes, beets, carrots), asparagus and green pea basil/mint puree (all prepared at home). — 15 days ago
Aromas - Almond, apple and a little bit of custard. Lovely in the mouth, slightly oily, a bit of acidity and some peach stone bitterness. Plenty to it for the money.
Ps (read the label after making this note - the label says papaya and I can see that - a papaya is also known as pawpaw or 'custard-apple', however in reality as well as tasting of apples and custard, papayas taste of sewage). — 5 days ago
I have only had a few Chilean wines and glad to experience this one. Ended up being much more complex than I anticipated for something so young. Earth tones, sage, slight cinnamon, green pepper and maybe even slight habanero pepper, another vegetal flavor that I failed to identify and then of course, far berry but also maybe a slight plum. Tannins were still a bit stronger than I like but overall, a good bottle and glad I have more to see how they age. — a day ago
