Love this Bordeaux blend. The smell is awesome - lightly sweet - and I love the dryness of the wine on the palate. Still a little bit of fruit though, which I like. Great for our Bastille Day cheese board (except for the salmon eggs - it highlighted their strong salt flavor) and would buy again for a French-themed meal. — 4 years ago

Celebrating Bastille Day with the spring dinner of the Confrerie St Etienne of Alsace association. Wonderful menu and perfectly paired wines.

Wow. Leave it to the dessert wine to run away with Wine of the Night! Honeyed cashews, honeyed stone fruits, guava, pineapple, caramel and honeycomb. Like a lighter version of Dolce. Insanely good! On the hunt for some of this. Thought of you @Greg Ballington since it’s a South African wine! — 6 years ago

@Peggy Hadley : It was paired with traditional Napoleon, which is fitting given the history of this wine...”Napoleon drank it on the island of St Helena to find solace in his lonely exile” according to the producers of this wine. Incredible pairing.

Celebrating Bastille Day with the spring dinner of the Confrerie St Etienne of Alsace association. Wonderful menu and perfectly paired wines.

Mainly cab/Syrah, with a splash of Malbec. Unique. Could pick out the inky and muddled blackberries of the Malbec easily. The Syrah provided more tart rhubarb and violets as opposed to darker/meatier Napa Syrahs. Heavy on the mid palate. Juicy and extracted finish of red and black fruits. — 6 years ago

It was a nice touch to invoke memories of France! We’ve enjoyed being members of the Confrerie St Etienne. You earn up to 3 ribbons by testing. The first 2 can be gained be testing before a dinner, but the last must be attained when visiting Alsace and testing with the association over there in their cellar! My wife and I got our first ribbons this spring.
