Domaine Auguste Clape

St. Péray Blanc Marsanne

Deep, rich and enveloped within a delicate creaminess here is a Northern Rhône white that deserves its praise. The fruit is soft and doesn’t overlay the mineral component. I really like this one. — 8 years ago

Domaine Auguste Clape

Renaissance Cornas Syrah 2010

This had lots of red & black fruits, still youthful that opens with air with notes of menthol, savory spices, mineral, floral & tobacco — 4 months ago

Le Vin des Amis Syrah 2022

Nose is typical Clape, palate is a little thin and austere, in line with the 11.5% abv, but still a good companion for food and friends. — 7 months ago

Day 2 rounds out the edges just enough. Not the best Vin des Amis but worth a try

Domaine Des Vignes du Maynes (Julien Guillot)

Cuvée 910 Clos des Vignes du Maynes Mâcon-Cruzille Pinot Noir 2021

Wildcard. Prob my fav cuvée from Julien. Tasted aged even tho it’s a 21. Flowery quality to it, like roses, potpourri.

[2019 Vintage:] “A captivating, translucent ruby red hue. Even on the nose alone, there is already a suggestion of ripeness, yet it is utterly enveloped by fragrance: white flowers, grapefruit, cherry, even stony minerals. Really classy and effusive, replete with sapid pinot-esque flavours of enviable concentration. The vintage is quite magical here: all pure, palate-staining but also inexplicably airy in the mouth. The mouthfeel is silky, culminating in a persistent, gentle and thoroughly sweet-fruited long finish held together by an invisible frame. Like the ethereal cuvée Auguste, trails of crushed flower petals replicate and repeat on the lingering finish.” AC
“Guillot brings a unique perspective to gamay—not quite Burgundy, not yet Beaujolais—not only in his Mâcon Rouge and Mâcon-Cruzille, but the mysterious, radiant, field-blended Cuvée 910.” Jon Bonné

Patchwork Chardonnay 2017

9.2

First wine of 2020! (not including Charles Heidsieck ‘06, Bérèche Brut Reserve & Macle ‘09 after midnight on NYE).
Drank on New Year’s Day with roast pork shoulder, spiced gammon, roast potatoes, apple sauce and a cider & onion gravy.
No tasting note but the wine was in great shape with that lovely saline tangy finish and worked very well with the meat and crackling.
