Indaco Toscana Merlot Sangiovese Rosato 2019

InSerrata Indaco Rosato Toscana 2019 Tuscany, Italy

This week's
#MerlotThursday is an interesting Rosé from Italy.

Neon orange in color with a peachy hue.

Strong nose of over ripen citrus fruits, apples, spices, light vegetables, cherries and raspberries.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with apples, citrus, raspberries, ripe limes, almonds, bitter herbs, earth and vegetables.

Spicy finish with bitter herbs.

This is an elegant Merlot based Rosé from Tuscany.

Soft and smooth with a nice mouthfeel. Gets earthier once it opens up.

Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. Paired nicely with Brie cheese and fresh berries.

A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Sangiovese. Organic.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

Jacopo Biondi-Santi

Sassoalloro Toscana Sangiovese 2018

Rustic nose with soil, dried red fruit. Medium minus body, medium plus alcohol. Sangiovese dominates in a Chianti style-- little complexity. A bit bitter on the palate with cranberry. Medium plus tannins. Short finish.

Isole e Olena

Collezione Privata Toscana IGT Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

2016: Very good Italian Cabernet, drinking young but with solid concentration and balance. Fruit still a bit tart but other flavors are developing and oak is well-integrated. Bit steep at $75 (WL) but only getting better with time. — 12 days ago

Castello di Monsanto

Sangioveto Grosso Toscana Sangiovese 1974

The first vintage release of Sangioveto by Monsanto. Still has plenty of life with dried red fruits, smoke, woodsy tones. — 16 days ago

Mastrojanni (Poderi Loreto e San Pio)

Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

Amazing value-driven “Baby Brunello.” Bright garnet (tending to the dark side) color. Prolific nose of red cherry and oak. Expressive pallet of cherry, blackberry, tobacco and a bit of balsamic vinegar. Smooth tannins. Medium-plus body. Outstanding structure and balance. Beautiful acidity. This one punches way above its price point. Thank You for sharing, Kase. — 6 days ago

Tenuta Sette Ponti

Crognolo Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2018

Tried again! In the heart of the Chianti lies Estate of Sette Ponti, 15 miles northwest of the city of Arezzo, past village of San Giustino Valdarno. Has 10% Merlot, aged in French Allier barriques, deep Ruby with red fruit aromas and floral notes. On the palate blackberry, plum and cherry flavors with blossom notes, spice and fine integrated tannins. Good balance, long finish ending with some oak and mineral tones. Nice! Will age a bit! Tasting well now! — 16 days ago
