History of Chapoutier family dates back to the early 19th century when current owner Michel Chapoutier’s great-, great-, great-grandfather Marius purchased estate & famous l’Hermitage vineyards. Medium Ruby with aromas of rich red/black fruits and spice. On the palate raspberry, cherry & black currant flavors with notes of oak. Firm tannins, well balanced ending with fruit, spice and cedar. Very nice! Tasting Sample. Has lots of room to bottle evolve. — 9 days ago
This needed air to really reveal itself. I should have decanted. I waited a day to try again and was rewarded. Complex and beautiful. Cured meats, black fruit, spice, licorice, limestone, plus a finish that just lingers. I am guessing this will improve with a couple more years of age. — 16 days ago
Nice wine especially for the price. Dark and brooding in the glass. One of the more Syrah-y syrahs that we have had. Green olive on the nose. Deep black fruits. Tannins are unresolved - not surprising given the age. But the acid is there in a great way, and holds this together. One to try in several years - too young now. — 11 days ago
Hoisin sauce, so so so sick. Just why we drink wine. Leather. Just so so good. Hard to write a note as it’s so profound. Palate is perfect. Stunningly balanced. Root beer, ginger tertiary flavors. Just a wine is at double peak. Still has a youthful tang. Perfection. — 14 days ago
Early greedy syrah. Superbe mesmerising nose made of floral fragrances, violette flower forward, touch of pepper. A primeur wine full of charm.
Syrah primeur, gourmande. Superbe nez enivrant sur des fragrances florales violette en avant, touche poivrée. Vin primeur plein de charme. — 15 days ago
Blue flower perfume. Anise seed. Dusty minerality, granitic. Delicate tannins within a supremely long, tart, palate of purple raspberries. Elegant and juicy body and finish, with a firm mineral spine. Fantastic. Such elegant wine. Subtle and pretty. Nice perception of sweetness. Will only get better. — 17 days ago
