@Delectable Wine - This is the Passorosso Etna Rosso DOC, not the Terre Siciliane.
Nose is complex, with a tiny bit of barnyard, loads of smoky rock minerality, and rich cherry fruit. Chiseled in the mouth, with equal parts cherry fruit and intense stoniness, bone dry, with very good acidity. Tenaciously clings to the palate as some soft but vigorous tannins show up in the finish. Really fine. — 23 days ago
This bottle has aged way better than I thought it would as this was before Frank started adding small amounts of sulfur to help stabilize his wines. More balanced now. Fruit is still super vibrant while the acidity isn’t as razor sharp as before. Nose is SUPER funky with hints of cabbage on top of the smokiness and red fruit. Drinking window: now - 1 yr. — 9 days ago
Red earth. Just ripe cherry. Red currant. Rose hips. Blood orange. Sweet potpourri. Ethereal texture. Wanted the wine to be just a tad more expressive at first and imagine it could be with time and/or decanting.
Second night update: hypothesis proved right. Wine unwound a little on second night. More open and relaxed. — a month ago
Agerola 2021. Like the Rosato more than the rosso. Quite dark. — 19 days ago
