Drinking the 2019 vintage. Fruity, soft and only a little sweet. — a day ago
What an extraordinary wine! I would highly recomend it. It’s a bit pricy and the winery Barahonda has a great selection of wines in more affordable price ranges. I have tried a couple of them and they are also excellent. The wine is very complex and smooth. — 21 days ago
Last night I opened this 2019 Juan Gil Silver Label Monastrell. This is from the Bodegas Juan Gil Jumilla, Spain, 100% Monastrell (Mourvèdre).
On the nose there is black plum, blackberry, blueberry, black pepper, violet, gravel and earth.
On the palate there is blackberry, blueberry, plum, black cherry, black pepper, spice, soft oak, gravel and earth.
This is a full bodied wine with a smooth sweet juicy mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium supple tannins that move smoothly into a long black & red fruit earthy finish. We are on another weekend and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend planned. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 16 days ago
On first opening, bouquet of black cherry and blackberries, Big Red cinnamon gum, bell pepper, and smoky bowling alley; palate of black cherry and plum, char, and black tea with a medium-short finish. On the second day the candy and bell pepper smells taper, bowling alley becomes more of a whiff of pipe smoke, blackberry bramble emerges with spent firecrackers; on the palate the black pepper spice has some herbs de provence, black tea tannins are rounder and the cherry flavor more tart, a fuller body on the finish with notes of char, meat fats, and pepperoni spices. Was gonna go with 89 but it’s impressive once you decant for a day. — 2 days ago

Dry and bold, good wine — 8 days ago
Nice wine. Super black color. Full flavor but not complex enough and not enough of a bite for a higher rating. Tasted 29 May 2022. — a month ago

Someone wanted a red instead of a dessert wine to go with the berry chantilly cake, and I though the Clio has the richness and depth of flavor to make it work.
Not bad as it turned out. The ripe black fruits and dark chocolate from the wine complement the delicate vanilla and fresh berry flavor from the cake well.
Always a hedonistic wine, the 18’ is a bit hot on the finish - 16% abv making its presence felt.
