Monprivato di Castiglione Falletto Barolo Nebbiolo 2018

What I know about this wine is it’s huge aging potential; what I didn’t know was that their skill level is so high that even their young Barolos — if this bottle is indicative —are complete, perfectly balanced, and taste as if they are made to drink now! This wine was much more delicate, floral, Burgundian, and tea-scented than I expected compared to the other notable Barolo producers I have experienced. What a stunning introduction to this producer! — 2 days ago

Santo Stefano di Perno Barolo Nebbiolo 2013

We went after finding a few bottles after we tasted the 2014. Nose of crushed flowers, tobacco, tar, and a dollop of asian spices. Oh soo good in the mouth, relatively accessible but prominent tannins and will do much better in 5 to 7 years. Our kind of Barolo, phenomenal with food. Top stuff. — 9 months ago

Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

Old world wine that I’ll ponder later tonight in the dream world. Like a college 101 course in Barolo’s of another age. Leathery, tannic, balanced, dark cherry and plum, copper. A young gal out at her first dance, yet waltzing with the seductive wisdom of generations. Deeply grateful to know people who treat me to such divinity. — 6 days ago

Barbera d'Alba 2011

Popped and poured. The 2011 Barbera d’Alba pours a deep, garnet (with some purple) color with a near opaque core. Slightly hazy. No signs of particles or gas. Medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous. Boysenberries , mulberries, dark cherry, braised beef (no cap), oiled leather, dried leaf tobacco, organic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry; medium tannins and medium+ acid. Alcohol is medium+. Confirming the notes from the nose. This is really tasty right now. While I don’t think this is going to fall off a cliff soon, I also don’t think there is any reason to hold any longer. Drink now and enjoy while the fruits are still nicely balanced with the secondary characteristics. — 2 months ago

Riserva Barolo Nebbiolo 1964

Pretty deep garnet , quite narrow rim . Quite stinky nose , bit medicinal and a bit weird, quite mineral . Some undergrowth notes on the palate , where it fills out quite well with an austere profile , mineral and a touch medicinal also. Ok length with balance acidity . Probably not the best bottle out there , does show though that better bottles still would have quite a lot to offer , drink now and over the next few years . — 5 months ago
