Deep purple in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose with blackberries, black cherries, cooked strawberries, oak, light vanilla, licorice, spices, earth, light vegetables, turmeric, black pepper and a touch of honeysuckle.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with cherries, sweet strawberries, raspberries, lemon peal, black currants, oak, earth, honeysuckle, spices, herbs and black pepper.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy pomegranates.
This is a very unique Petite Sirah from Colorado. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel. Rich, dense, opulent and tangy. Concentrated, but fresh.
This Single Vineyard Petite Sirah does not resemble a California Petite Sirah.
Still young and needs five years in the bottle to mature properly, but already very yummy. I really enjoyed the nose, and kept smelling on it for a while.
Good right out of the bottle. Good by itself and better with food. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
Grapes are fermented on their own yeast. Aged in American oak barrels. Unfiltered and unfined.
15.2% alcohol by volume.

From Cris Cherry’s new operation out of Villa Creek in Paso, the Maha wines I believe are all estate fruit. This was surprisingly approachable for such a young petite sirah (didn’t know that was the dominant grape, as it just says “red wine” on the back!). Not surprisingly, this was terrific. The Villa Creek High Road is still my favorite of his, but the Maha wines are definitely worth your time to seek out! — 3 days ago
Another day in the pandemic.. another bottle of wine. I purchased a whole case of 2014 Fiddletown Cellars Petite Sirah when I read an article saying this wine was affordable and would age well. Tonight we gave one of those bottles a try... perhaps a bit early, but, even now, the wine is quite nice! It is inky dark. On the nose the slight dark fruit smell is pushed aside by the smell of peppery bay leaves (the greenness may be an indication that wine will be even better with more time). But, as stated, the wine is going down smooth tonight, even with it’s pronounced tannic structure, or is accessible and food friendly. — 6 days ago
Awesome! I’m not sure the cork would have lasted 5 more years as the tasting notes suggested. We got this in our Fall 2017 Club shipment. Rich wine with deep color, very soft tannins, slightly sweet on first taste. — 5 days ago
