Not feeling the love tonight. I have had this vintage before and it has been magical. Love this wine. Usually a very complex oily joy. But tonight’s has been a bit harsh. Don’t think it’s spoiled but it’s definitely off. So let’s see how it does tomorrow. Some strong flinty elements but not much of the usual peach and apricot. Nice wine especially for the price. Dark and brooding in the glass. One of the more Syrah-y syrahs that we have had. Green olive on the nose. Deep black fruits. Tannins are unresolved - not surprising given the age. But the acid is there in a great way, and holds this together. One to try in several years - too young now. — 15 days ago
History of Chapoutier family dates back to the early 19th century when current owner Michel Chapoutier’s great-, great-, great-grandfather Marius purchased estate & famous l’Hermitage vineyards. Medium Ruby with aromas of rich red/black fruits and spice. On the palate raspberry, cherry & black currant flavors with notes of oak. Firm tannins, well balanced ending with fruit, spice and cedar. Very nice! Tasting Sample. Has lots of room to bottle evolve. — 13 days ago
This is really really good. A wine to have with food. Not over the top. Wow. A wine to buy a case of.
Nose is so mineral. Hint of tropical fruit. As it opens so elegant.
Palate is mostly mineral. First impression is almost chablisien. Then you get some nice tropical fruit. Great balance. As it opens a mountain stream infused with peaches and papayas. So elegant. Like tropical Chablis. Delicious in an elegant way.
Not a lot of affordable drinkable rhone wines. Especially when young. You can have this with fish, veggies, chicken.
