Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Hermitage Syrah 2006

This wine is deep ruby with developing and robust notes of blackberry preserves, crushed blueberry, dried prune, fig paste, violet, cherry blossom, black licorice, anise, cedar, nutmeg, cardamom, allspice, pencil shavings, leather, tobacco, and forest floor.

On the palate this wine is dry. It has medium acidity, a full body, high alcohol, smooth, fine-grain tannins, and medium(+) intensity in flavors consistent with the nose. It’s bold, structured, perfumed…

With a long, elegant finish and impeccable balance, this wine is top-notch-delish! C’est magnifique!

Château Pouget

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2013

Cedar, cigar box, black currant, earth, and a floral thing lingering in the background (could it be a rose scent?) the palate is rather on the thin side, a small, pleasant matter without weight, a radiant black currant fruit all along, some joyful tannins, with a grain which gives it a nice complex mouthfeel. The finish is fruity, a bit toasty and leaves a nice aftertaste. We paired it with homemade spaghetti bolognese (I know it's a bit decadent 😏) and the pairing actually worked better than expected. This is certainly not a good vintage, thus the wine lacks a bit of horse power but it's delicate, complex and very well done. I like it very much! #sundaynighttreat(before the night actually begins 😅) — 3 years ago

Nice description. Less good years are often a great pleasure to drink.

@Peter van den Besselaar thank you! This one is certainly in a great place right now. Not the greatest, but it delivers loads of pleasure at every sip and opens up with air

D.D. Arbois Poulsard Blend 2019

Pleasure wine. Soft, juicy strawberry and cherry with a fresh soil aspect. Subtle, fine-grain tannin frames mouthwatering acidity. Drank from the fridge over 3 days and it developed beautifully. — 17 days ago

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Outstanding Margaux. Classic flavors of violets, plums and dark fruits with fine grain tannins. Could it improve further? Possibly but I’m happy with where this is now. — 2 years ago

Le Grain de Sénevé

Roue Libre Gamay

Complete funk. Tons of herbs and a hint of fruit. It was a little too natural for my liking. — 4 years ago

Le Trouble Fait Muscat Petit Grain 2019

Floral, citrusy, some stone fruits, and very saline. Surprisingly light for a skinsy. A quaffer. — a month ago
