Langhe DOC Nebbiolo 2019

Quite light ruby , wide light ruby rim . Rose and strawberry, raspberry, red cherry scented, slight hint of anis and fresh herbs. In the mouth nice sweet red fruits , cherry and strawberry , that touch of anis again . Pretty refreshing acidity , quite fine but noticeable tannins . Reasonable length and overall nicely balanced . This benefitted from a bit of air , and though young was a good match with a rather simple pasta with Bolognese sauce. This is good from now (with food and time in the decanter ) though will offer good drinking over the next 3-5 years . A nice and well made Langhe Nebbiolo.

Expressive nose with hints of coffee, plums, dry cherries. Medium bodied with present but polished tannins (on the soft side for a Nebbiolo). Good acid and length. — 2 months ago

Le Gramolere Barolo Nebbiolo 2012

Opened my first bottle of this child's birth year wine at 10 years old.
Surprisingly dark, purple color. Nose is pretty classic with herb and hummus tinged plum fruit. The texture here was the high point for me, fine, powdery and yet still engaging tannins that seem to point to additional aging potential.
Not super complex but very good.

Castelletto Barolo Nebbiolo 2014

Popped and poured. The 2014 “Castelletto” is garnet with an transparent core and very slight staining of the tears. On the nose, cherry lozenge, roses, dried green herbs, tomato leaf. On the palate, the wine is dry, high tannin, medium++ acid. On the palate, cherry candy, cherry raisin, dried earth and iron minerals. A little thin. Long finish. The nose is more interesting than the palate at this stage. I gotta wonder if time will be kind to the 2014 vintage? Anyway, fun to check in on. — 3 months ago
