15 Ans d'Age Bas Armagnac

My favorite brandy house, but I’ve never tried this expression.

Nose: tropical fruits - papaya? Banana? Nuts - almonds, peanuts, peanut brittle. Intense baking spices - allspice, cinnamon, clove, black pepper. Salted caramel, toffee. Light roast coffee. Bitter chocolate. Boozy vanilla extract. Yum.

Taste: marvelous. A little lighter bodied than the 25 year (from what I recall), but all the same bitter chocolate and salty caramel and old varnished wood - and tobacco. And hot spices. And charred, caramelized orange? Yowzah. Top tier. I’ll have to directly compare to my 25 year and 30 years…but this is remarkable. 97.

Pierre Laplace

Madiran Tannat Blend 2013

Tannat (80%)/Cabernet Franc (20%) blend. Deep purple color. Dark black fruit aromas and flavors. Hints of smoke and oak. Just a bit of a green note but it incorporates beautifully. Nicely structured, as the Tannat was not over extracted. Tannins are present but not overly grippy. Alcohol is also reasonable at 13.5%. This wine has benefited from aging. Thank You Ron B. — 22 days ago

Coutale Rosé Cahors Malbec 2020

2020 vintage. Relatively full-bodied for the type. Really ripe strawberries, stewed cherries, raspberry, bit of phenolic bitterness, lemon pith, rocks, little herbal thing going on. — 16 days ago
