Next week in the Vertical tasting, we opened and decanted the 2002. So silky-soft, supple and almost pillowy—then the plum raisin. About 30 seconds later, the tannins kick in. Mouth puckers. For a moment. Then, everything opens back up to young raisin, dark chocolate and cherry…back to the raisins and settling on a leather taste asking for another sip. Side note: the barnyard smell is real when first poured but it opens up). And after a couple days it has a slight dried apricot and lemon profile. — a month ago
