Nice to taste this Santa Maria Valley bottling alongside the Sta. Rita Hills one. Riper, darker fruits profile but there is still freshness here. Oak is more prominent. Earthier as well with light mushroom and tea leaf notes. Plush palate.
This is a more complex and deeper wine. But I prefer the Sanford bottling slightly. — 5 months ago
Mouthwatering fruit and tangy dryness — a year ago
A rich crimson in colour with a little bricking developing - a tawny rim. Aromas of cassis, plum and dark chocolate on the nose. Smooth and silky with black currant - totally balanced with resolved tannins. The proverbial iron fist in the velvet glove - great density. See previous notes - I’ve never seen this for sale in Australia. Bought this from Vinfolio in San Francisco and was immediately impressed. A world class new world Cabernet - just gorgeous. 100 points from Robert Parker and also Jeb Dunnuck - tempted to do the same - I settled on 99. The best wine I’ve had this year. — 2 years ago

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark ruby in color with a short red rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, sweet plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, metals, chocolates and black pepper.
Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, figs, raisins, vanilla, cola, cedar, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, leather and black pepper.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Spicy and rich. Opulent and tasty.
Easy drinking right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel.
This Single Vineyard Cabernet from the great 2016 vintage, is still young, and would be better in the next 5 to 10 years.
Robert Parker 94 points.
Good right out of the bottle and good by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with BBQ Meats.
A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. Aged in French oak barrels (75% new) for 20 months.
15.1% alcohol by volume.

Younger prob wouldn’t have liked as much, but with secondary notes singing 12 years later this was captivating to sip. — a year ago

It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
This is a very controversial wine in the wine world. Some love it, yet some really hate it. I can understand both sides.
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim. Not showing age at all.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity.
Showing black fruits with cedar, vanilla, leather, spices, tobacco, light vinaigrette, earth, chocolates, peppercorn, coffee and mocha.
Nice finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This is a great Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.
Tasty and delicious with a strong nose. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 10 years.
I had this vintage 7 years ago, and liked it just as much. This time
I had it blind, so it is what it is.
Wine Spectator 91 points. Robert Parker 96 points.
