Sancerre Rouge! It’s not always easy to find (especially in the Midwest), but it’s always enjoyable. A Pinot Noir-based wine from Sancerre AOC of the Central Vineyards region in Loire Valley, France, which is most famous for its Sauvignon Blanc, but also makes excellent Pinot Noir (representing only 10-20% of wines produced in this area).
This wine is medium ruby. It has medium(+) intensity of fresh and youthful fruit aromas and flavors that include bright red cherry, strawberry, and cranberry notes, also tulip, vegetal, and wet stone notes. The acidity is medium(+), the wine is medium-bodied, it has medium tannins, and high alcohol. Words that come to mind are elegant, fruity, vibrant, balanced. The finish is medium.

Lovely deep salmon color. Quite tasty. — a month ago
Star bright, very pale straw gold. Very inviting nose and medium palate of green apple, citrus rind, and mild chalky mineral. Medium acidity. Ready for your best seafood dishes or soft cheeses. Excellent example of the higher end of Sauvignon Blanc (but at a more midrange price). Drink now through 2024. — 3 months ago
