Sick. Floral, sick floral. Blueberry, gamey, violets galore. Mint, lavender, black raspberry, palate is engaging and deep but mostly closed. Sweet red fruits. So complex. Be back later.
After 7 hours this is crazy. 9.5 to 9.7. Sickness. So clean. So pure. Massive violets. So finessed. Pure deep aroma. — 11 hours ago
Pale lemon-hued. Aromas and flavors of almond, cream, flint, grapefruit, honeysuckle, and lemon zest. Medium body and medium-plus acidity. Soft bouquet of floral and citrus notes; a textured mouthfeel; and a crisp finish of grapefruit and minerals. A lovely and balanced Sauvignon Blanc. — 20 days ago
A perfect wine for a very non humid mid August day. Gorgeous. Nose of lemon, hay, white pepper, wild white flowers, superb minerality, loads of vegetables and really not a lot of fruit. Love it. Palate is juicy abs super clean. Very pure. Tastes like spring water but denser, more textured and vinous. So pure. Herbal finish. Long finish. Just dazzling. Superb minerality on the finish. So sappy. After air it gains finesse and lemony sweetness adds to the finish. Such sap. — a month ago
A 9.4 with potential to upgrade with more age! The 2010 at 10 years is still a young developing wine. The fruit is still plentiful with cherry, raspberry, red plum, the tertiary elements are barely starting to integrate and show. The oak was also pretty muted but there. Personally I think this vintage is a little shutdown at the moment but give it 5+ more years and I think it will start showing like the 2005! This wine has a lot of power and potential. I tasted this in a vertical with the 2005 and 2007 all bottles came direct from the Barge Cellars. — 20 days ago
Nose of intense alpine minerality. White flowers. Custard. Hint of medicinal quality. More like an apothecary. Not bad medicinal if that is not clear. Clean and way batter than my last bottle’s aromas. Palate is juicy and clean, long and tense. Really long. Terrific elegance and purity. Nice spice. Balanced and very pure. Exotic tropical fruits. @Delectable Wine this is roussanne not Jacquere. — 12 days ago
What an amazing wine! 95% Syrah with 5% Viognier this wine was a serenade on the nose and on the palate. The 2005 is balanced with silky tannins and nicely structured acidity. It still had freshness to the fruit but the tertiary flavors are seamlessly integrated. Cherry, raspberry, leather, meat, pepper and a touch of smoke. I was able to source my bottle direct from the Barge cellars and this is exactly what a superb 15 year old Côte Rôtie should be. (I wish I could have bought 6!) — 20 days ago
One of my favorite roussane.
Nose is dense and complex. Orange peel. A hint of peat.
Palate is rich but elegantly so. Not over the top like much northern rhone roussane. Very very precise without a hint of blowsiness. Just killer precise linear tropical fruit.
As for the vintage ? True artistes do not stoop to arithmetics.
