Ladera Sagrada

Castelo do Papa Valdeorras Godello

Tried a new wine tonight and really enjoyed this one. Pears were the predominate flavor and another reviewers comment of wet stone really hit home as well once I thought about it. Lingering hint of sweetness on the end that would usually make me dislike this wine. Totally enjoyed and would buy again. — 6 days ago

Quinta do Crasto

Reserva Douro Red Blend 2015

For the reserva with 5+ yrs I expected it to be a bit more refined. As others have mentioned its on the boozy side. Though slightly “in your face” there is much to like. The nose is very complex and the palate is anything from boring. Before trying another bottle I would like to aged this for another 3 years. Still worth the price. — 6 days ago

Caves São João

Poço do Lobo Arinto 1991

Served double-blind. The color was a darker tone of gold, showing potential signs of age but seemed to be in good physical shape. On the nose, dried fruits such apricot and citrus fruits however, it was the striking note of coconut that ultimately led me to the Iberian peninsula. I figured a Rioja made in an oxidative style such as LdH Tondonia Blanco. On the palate, again with the dried fruits accompanied by nuts. This wine was balanced and had fine acid that provided the lift necessary. When the wine was revealed, I was couldn’t help but crack a smile; what a delight to try such a fantastic dry white from Portugal that, in many ways, was very energetic at 29 years young. — 20 days ago

Vinha do Cais da Ribeira

Reserva Douro Red Blend 2015

Douro Reserva Port Barrel finish. Deep, near black hazy purple. Abundant, port-like nose of dark berries and patent leather. Dark fruit, vanilla, and patent leather reign on the full-bodied palate. Medium tannins. Medium minus acidity. Tastes like a light Port, which is understandable given the varieties and production method. Best with hearty neat stews or roasts, but a nice lighter cigar will work, too. Drink now through 2030. Yes, that’s what I wrote. — 14 days ago

9.2

Tripping. This is real wine. Red cranberry and red plum with eucalyptus and bay leaf on the nose. Fresh attack and pure crunchy red and black fruit on the palate. Delicious fine grain tannins and a real and not fake finish. Pure wine man. #douro #portuguesewine #portugal #crasto somewhat reminiscent of Tuscany but not so tannic. — a day ago

Herdade do Esporão

Assobio Douro Touriga Nacional Blend 2011

Confectioners cherry, plum, deep dark spice, and stewed raspberries. Well balanced and integrating, with chalky tannins and pretty blue and blackberry fruits. A touch of warmth and leather. Drink now. — 8 days ago
