Great petrol nose. Honeyed. Apricots. Mineral and subtle. Really nice. Palate is elegant and complex with great acidity and tension. Very long and juicy. Excellent purity and freshness. A great showing. — 23 days ago

A.P. Birks Clare Valley Malbec 2011

I’ve been a long time buyer of Wendouree but have not had many of their 100% Malbec. They are only offered to club members occasionally. Often used to blend with Cabernet or Shiraz. Exhibiting plum flesh and plum skins and that often present menthol note (eucalyptus) which is detectable in many of the Wendouree Cuvées. Medium plus palate weight with medium plus intensity verging on profound intensity. Their Malbec vines date back to the 1920s. Will have the next one in a couple of years. — 5 months ago

Hanlin Hill Riesling 2012

Pale to mid yellow in colour. The wine was a little cold to begin with. Aromas of talc and lime marmalade, dried flowers - a faint paraffin note - No Kerosene or petrol (TDN). A beautiful aged Riesling from the Clare Valley from Petaluma - a long time favourite producer of Riesling. With air and warming up, some yellow peach notes developing. I see HH said this benefits from decanting which I didn’t do. Drinking at its peak. Sadly my last 2012. — a month ago

Shiraz 2013

Gave this a good several hours breathing before dinner, and it’s just starting to unfurl. Still young, but showing why it’s such a revered wine. Plenty of layers beginning to reveal themselves, berries, purple fruit and florals amongst them. Medium bodied and surprisingly soft on the palate, with tannins playing a secondary supporting role. Delicious drinking right now and will be amazing to revisit in years to come. — 2 months ago

The Armagh Clare Valley Shiraz 1996

This was really something upon initial decant—so supple, so long. Fell apart a little with extended air but this was first in the lineup of mature Aussies and made quite an impression — 5 months ago
