Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre Clare Valley 1999

A lineup of eight Grenache and Grenache blends exploring how long can they age? All from 1994-1999, four countries represented. Group’s #4, my #2 - quite elegant. — 5 days ago

The Lodge Hill Clare Valley Riesling

Almost water white with some green. Less racy then other examples. Some lime but no lime cordial. Milder vs the great Clare Valley examples — 11 days ago

Grosset

Springvale Clare Valley Riesling 2013

Springvale is usually the less austere when compared to the Grosset Polish Hill. This is a pale lemon in colour. Touch of Kerosene amongst the white flower aromatics. Citrus on the light restrained palate with the acid which will propel this well past 10 years of age. Will be at its peak then similar to the 2011 Petaluma, another Clare Valley Riesling, I had recently. — a month ago

St. Andrews

Single Vineyard Riesling 2015

Still catching up with notes from before the Cairns trip. A mature Clare Valley Riesling still with a 5+ year future. Citrus flowers of lime and lemon with a sherbet note. Developing a paraffin nuance. Drinking well with a refreshing citric acid cut to cleanse the palate. Moreish. — 23 days ago

Petaluma

Hanlin Hill Riesling 2011

One of the pleasures in life is having a 10 year old Clare Valley Riesling. Had the last one a year ago in August 2020. This time some kerosene notes creeping in with the peachy notes. Honeyed nuances on the palate. Delicious. Diminished acid but could be kept for a few more years. A little chalky minerality. I think I have one left. — a month ago
