Founded by Emilio Moro, born in Pesquera de Duero Made. Wine made from grapes of vineyards, 25 & 75 years old, from Camino Viejo estate. Malleolus is a Latin word meaning “small hammer or mallet” used in planting & “majuelo” Spanish for “young vine” a traditional way of referring to a vineyard in Pesquera del Duero. Deep red subtle fruit aromas with espresso & smoky notes. Blackberry & cherry with vanilla spice on full lush tannins needing more time. Well balanced, complex, lingering with earthy finish. — 7 years ago

Literally just a short hop west of Sociando Mallet, a great Bordeaux I’ve bought and cellared since the great 1982, this is an 85% CS/15% M Haut-Medoc that is quite fine, definitely shows a solid tannic backbone, lovely fruit, medium-long finish, I’d guess 7-10 years easily of further development, only troubling thing for me is the 14.5% ABV, but lovely wine nonetheless. — 2 years ago

2020 vintage. Last tasted 7.7.24 (9.3) and 3.15.24 (9.2). Medium-heavy body. Previously hesitant and reticent tannins beginning to creep into the finish right off the bat. Starts off fairly fruity, then tapers that down a bit at the end. Harmonious and über-pleasant. PNP now, double park it for a ten-spot or investigate somewhere in between. Consider the invitation proffered. Haut-Médoc doesn't move the needle at work (wish it did) but always more than happy to crush this Bordeaux bestie off premise. Consistent catch-all producer with "that's all?!" pricing. 12.03.24. — 22 days ago
