Château Franc Le Maine

Oyster River Winegrowers

Carbonic Nation Red Blend

A little feral, a little raw. Candied cranberries? Plus a little prickle.
Very giving and purposefully quaffable.

Well done Maine.

*Note: tartaric crystals are fine in a wine like this y'all.

Domaine des Roches Neuves (Thierry Germain)

Clos de L'Échelier Dampierre Sur Loire Saumur Champigny Cabernet Franc 2017

Lyle Fass
9.4

Super aromas. Mesmerizing. Herbal, cassis, light cherry, mineral and so so lifting. Super complex and so transparent. Sweet fruit on the palate, so nimble, elegant and mineral. This just floats and has a Burgundian sensibility. So balanced and wowza pure. Ripe and super elegant tannins. Superb. Has more to say. — 7 days ago

Domaine La Bonneliere

Saumur Tradition Cabernet Franc Rosé 2017

Just concluded the annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.

Nose has washed raspberries, sliced Clementine orange, peach skin and moist chalk.
Palate has dried orange, partially-dried cherry, peach skin and (minor) dried raspberry. Light acidity remains, our final bottle, this was a good run.

Domaine de la Pépière

La Pepie Muscadet Sevre et Maine Sur Lie Melon de Bourgogne 2018

Crystalline, fresh & clean. Herbal tea on the nose with light citrus aromatics. Dry as they come with mineral & earth underpinning the bright acid. Not super complex, but doesn’t need to be. — a day ago

King Family Vineyards

Cabernet Franc 2018

This is a nice and light Cabernet Franc from Virginia. Showing red and blue fruits with earth, honeysuckle, chocolates, oak, vegetables and spices.

Light ruby in color with medium intensity.

Very pretty nose, sweet and flowery.

Medium bodied with medium acidity.

Good right out of the bottle., light and airy. Would be nice to revisit it in a couple of years.

A good food wine that I paired with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses olive crackers.

12% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

$28.

M. Bonnamy

Crémant de Loire Brut Rosé

It is Saturday night and I have opened the Maurice Bonnamy Crémant de Loire Rosé Brut. A blend of 100% Cabernet Franc grapes from south of Saumur.

On the nose there I find strawberry, raspberry, tart cherry, minerality and some yeasty qualities.

On the palate there are notes of strawberry, raspberry, tart cherry, bell pepper, yeast and food minerals.

This sparkling wine has a beautiful salmon pink color with a constant fine bead that is medium bodied with high acidity and a long fresh, crisp, clean finish. Continued good health and stay safe. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂

Clos de l'Olive Chinon Cabernet Franc 1997

Lyle Fass
9.4

Classic Chinon nose. Wet leaves, earth, herbaciousness, leather, feral, hay, olives as the name implies, cassis, mint and tree bark. So complex. Aged. Classic classic stuff. Palate is silky and sweet with incredible freshness and acidity. Elegant and tart with a red currant like sweetness. A barely type of red fruited sweetness. Very elegant and refined Olive. Juicy and bright. Tastes younger than its age. Wonderful. — 15 days ago
