Amazing wine. While still young, the magic of the red label from the master was in full form tonight wafting a captivating bouquet of Christmas spices, rose pedals, licorice, worn leather and a menthol freshness. A stunning perfume. The palate shows incredible richness and density yet without weight, and the most luxurious of textures that wraps around the palate before its multi-minute finish. Wow. — 17 hours ago

Santo Stefano Di Neive Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2005

Absolutely gorgeous tonight, with red label stardom, continuing to get better and better in the decanter wafting waves of roses, black cherries, exotic spices and tea leaves. It has immense richness but also so fresh and detailed. There is incredible density yet without weight. An amazing combination of power and elegance. — a month ago

Bourgogne Chardonnay 2012

2012 vintage. Nice producer with anticipated, low-level stuff here. Decanted for giggles. Initially tasted directly after decant and temp was approx 57-59 degrees. Slightly golden color and somewhat ripe but not around the bend ripe. Acidity was low and almost no-go. Woulda rated an 8.7/8.8. Threw the decanter (gently) with a linen napkin for protection in an ice bath to chill down to the 40-42 degree region. Gave it 30 mins and kept it at that 40-42 temp for the next two hours. Acidity (not surprisingly) perked up noticeably. Medium body. Was really pleased with keeping this wine at that temp for the remainder of enjoyment. Feel comfy saying this would perform at a similar level for the next half decade if treated similarly. 11.25.23. — 7 days ago

for me wine of the night because it more than held its own with the big boys. The depth and intensity were off the chart. — 14 days ago
