Bethel Heights

Carter Vineyard Pinot Noir

Lovely wine that held up well over 10 years in the cellar. Subtle dark fruit and spice at this age, still had some zing. The last of my stock of these, may have to revisit some BH pinots — 2 months ago

Tapanappa

Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay 2013

See previous notes 30 weeks ago. Very similar. Mid Lemon in colour. Citrus on the nose with grapefruit predominant. The palate is overall a little more lean than I would like - a little austere for a 7 year old Chardonnay - perhaps the grapes were picked a little too early? Still lively with that acid but could do with a little more mid palate fruit. Made by Brian Croser who used to be at Petaluma some years ago before he started Tapanappa in 2002 in conjunction with Bollinger and the Cazes Family of Lynch Bages in Pauillac. Brian was Decanters Man of the Year in 2004. — 2 months ago

Fortuna Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Antonio Galloni
9.3

Always one of my favorite Carter wines and one of the under the radar gems in this portfolio. Dark, layered and full of character. Just bottled, will be better in time. Tasted during the Vinous Learn Oakville seminar. 93+ — 2 months ago
