Superb as usual! — 3 days ago
2024/9/18. Compared to the dark, brooding Lavieres, this is much more red and open-knit, which I appreciate overall. There is still some powdery tannin, with a woody stone fruit pit character, and dense fruit. There’s also a notable floral note (rose?) with the red berry and cherry on the nose. The acidity is crisp. This would definitely benefit with more time to integrate, but is more approachable than that Lavieres (or at least the bottle I had) — a month ago
#AgedWineTuesday
Dark golden in color with a brownish hue.
Light nose and very dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing lemons, apples, spices, light over ripen citrus fruits, earth, light wood, herbs, light vegetables and white pepper.
Short finish with limes and bitter herbs.
This 28 year old is a little past its prime, but still drinkable and interesting.
I had higher expectations, but at this age, it really depends on the individual bottle. That said, I still enjoyed it.
Needed 30 minutes to open up properly.
Good by itself as a sipping wine.
100% Chardonnay grapes were aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

2020 vintage. Premier cru and Monopole vineyard. Medium-heavy body. Some aged/golden flavors already present. Not the cheapest Beaune but this is banging and matches plenty of Meursault, Chassagne or Puligny in strict terms of dollars for the delivery. Can’t say I’m the biggest fan of large Burg houses but they occasionally surprise you. This is one of those said occasions. Not to be missed for the concentration and presentation. 8.7.24. — 3 months ago
