100% Tempranillo, about 12 mos in mostly new French oak. Deep Ruby, aromas of dark fruits, spice, floral and earthy oak. On the palate flavors of fresh blackberry & currants with tobacco, licorice and gentle bits of cedar. Tannins, are tight supporting the backbone of the wine, needs more bottle age, resist opening now. Well balance with acidity, full body, long finish ends with some fruit, spice, and earthy character. 2024/8. This is classically styled in a broad sense, though it did age in French as opposed to American oak. It is indeed a bit darker-fruited, toastier and more brooding as a result, despite the 13 years of age. It also wasn’t the best choice for a hot summer night, but it was still enjoyable, and would probably be even more my speed with another 5-10 years — a month ago
Honestly this is an exceptionally breezy, uncomplicated, outdoor all day summertime kind of red and I really dig it. A tub full of these at a poolside party would get the crowd going. — 20 days ago
