Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The “La Rue des Noyers” pours a straw color with medium viscosity with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with lemons, black pepper, snow peas, peaches, and celery root. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and zippy. What a lovely and distinctive Champagne.
Labeled as NV but this bottle represents the 2016 vintage. “La Rue des Noyers” is a single vineyard in Vallée de la Marne, planted exclusively to Meunier. Benoit ages in oak and on lees for 11 months. I wish I could find this a little more easily. Disgorged May of 2020, during the height of the pandemic. — 2 months ago
Nice wine. Initially we thought it was a little old at 12yrs, but it finished nicely. Very clean. — a month ago
Great Chablis. Not as good as Valions from same producer. Rich pallet with good acidity. 8/10 — 2 months ago
A bit disappointing for this producer. A bit flabby — 2 months ago
$25, 2020 vintage, drunk February 2024, with Shibli, loving friend. He and I were quite satisfied. — 8 months ago
Pale to mid Yellow. Ripe citrus on nose and palate ( Lemon). Oak is nearly invisible. A beautiful Chablis from a great vineyard as in Les Clos. One can see why it is a Grand Cru. On the light to medium weight palate, with air, Lemon and Honey and a touch of Oyster Shell. Intensity without weight. A perfect match with fresh Pacific Oysters. — a month ago
Leesy and breezy. This goes down easy. — 3 months ago
