Kabinett Trocken Weißer Burgunder 2017

Prior notes still mostly apply, decanted +3H. Lighter acidity (👍) and a touch more neutral-ish oak notes, showing beautiful tonight!

Nose has green apple slice, under-ripe pear, garden fresh string beans, cold butter and fresh green apple peel.
Palate has baked green apple with sprinkle of sugar, lemon pith, river stones, lemon zest with medium acidity and a long finish.

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, without orchestra or conductor 😉. Three humble souls playing an all BEETHOVEN program (Piano Trio No. 3 in C minor (Opus 1, No. 3) and Symphony No. 2 in D (Opus 36, arr. for piano trio by Beethoven)) with a few of the best players of instruments containing strings, Yo-Yo Ma (cello), Leonidas Kavakos (violin) and Emanuel Ax (piano). A true delight for lovers of Classical music this evening!

@Lyle Fass Yeah, it's really showing top level today.

Tschuppen Spätburgunder 2016

From Baden at Swiss border, hand-picked Pinot Noir grown on lime stone, fermented with natural yeasts and with 22 mo aging in 225 liter barrels. Red lightly viscous unfiltered; nose of ripe strawberries, chocolate, and earthy sulphury spicy notes - the good kind; although low on alcohol (12%) the taste is satisfying, has ample acids, and is carried into a long finish on the back of straw- and lingon-berries and a touch of oak-spices. — 19 days ago

Engerstein Pinot Noir 2016

Wow. Wtf?

Nose is cherry lipstick. A hint of smoke. Amazing.

Palate is so juicy and delicious. Interesting. Almost like elements of sweet chili pepper. God you you going this whole bottle. So good. Fresh cherry. Cherry lipstick. So fresh. Off the charts freshness.

So salivatory. Should be called cuvee Pavlov.

Terrific texture. So silky.

This is a village wine. One of the best Village pinots I’ve ever had.

He’s the real deal. The aromas are great. Without tariffs this is roughly $30.

I adore 2016 at Laible. Nose of white flowers, apricot pit, lanolin and super intense minerality. So complex, ethereal and deep. Awesome nose. Palate is luscious and has an icing on the cake like texture and just dazzling purity. Grippy structure and almost tannins but also a looseness that is super appealing. More like well knit. Excellent. — 13 days ago

Spätburgunder rosé from Enderle & Moll — it’s got body, texture, and concentrated, tart cherry, cranberry, and rhubarb notes to boot.

It’s delicious!

@Sharon B Thank you 🙏💕 It’s in the 90’s here in the upper Midwest today!! Pool hit the spot (or maybe it was the Rosé) 👍

A new one to me. Nose is rich with hints of phyllo dough, lemon pepper, lime zest, herbs, citrus and more. Wow, palate is electric! 19 rocks in Baden! Terrific purity and delicacy. This is truly wonderful on PnP. Elegant and fresh with terrific and playful minerality. Nose develops more wet earth and Baden “sous bois.” Nose just keeps unfurling. Terrific. Terrific density, concentration and explosiveness. Finish is sneaky long. This is such a complete wine. Hugely mineral wine. Terrific. I think my score will go higher. — a month ago

Schulen Spätburgunder 2014

Nose is lovely gunsmoke. Chocolate. Cherry coffee.

Palate is so ripping clean, mineral and juicy. Early season cherries. So good.

A 9.2 Out of the gate. What a great wine with food.

Freshness on this is insane. Tastes like a 2020.

The Bourgogne rouge they serve in heaven. All I need is pate, cornichons, cigarette smoke and some rude French waiters.

2 hr decant still a bit closed; honeyed nose, palate was muddled and then clicked into gear. Peach skin, apricot, acid. — 10 days ago

See the review by @andrew schirmer. Not at the level of their Pinot noirs but a terrific aperitif.
