San Antonio Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

A good everyday Cabernet Sauvignon from Monterey County in California.

Showing black fruits with oak, earth, vanilla, vegetables, spices, tobacco and chocolates.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with medium acidity.

Tasty and easy drinking. A good party wine too.

Good by itself and good right out of the bottle.

14.9% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

Alma Gist Ranch Estate White Blend 2016

Just revisited 2016, glad I knew to hold onto a bottle. With holding a year or so, obtained at tasting room pre-lockdown, the wine has pleasantly evolved in the directions I was hoping.

Color has gone from clear/green to lemon yellow, floral notes on the nose, with jasmine green tea, honey, white grapefruit pith on the palette.

Delighted to witness the evolution. Expand plantings, good job Tommy Jr.. More please.

Guado de' Gemoli Bolgheri Superiore Super Tuscan Blend 2010

Ming L

Layered, expressive nose of blackberry, cassis, cedar, espresso, light soy source, tobacco, and herbal spices. Very refined palate with dark fruits brighten by beautiful acidity and ripe velvety candied tannins. The finish feels like endless.

80/20 Cab/Merlot from 2 vineyards, raised in French oak barrel for 18 months, 15% new (Nose suggested much heavier oak use, but by no means it’s okay).

I don’t remember when and where I acquired this bottle, but I’m glad I did.

San Benito County Greco 2019

Lovely American Greco that looks like it was skin fermented and has the character of that style of wine but a slow press was implored here. Lots of acid and texture and great length. Excellent — 10 days ago

Evangelho Vineyard Heritage Zinfandel Blend 2016

Soft, warm, spicy, inviting—dried cherries, cocoa, floral tones, tomato leaf, cracked pepper; soft tannins and lightly viscous. No need to wait. A great pairing for a very elegant barbecue — 12 days ago

Family Farm Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

Dark rubi robe, asian spices and dark fruits on the nose, medium bodied, complex, elegant, long and top notch pinot. We think its too young and still has some baby fat to shed. Try in 2024 or 2025. Its a great bottle that requires time. — a month ago
