Marchesi Antinori

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2015

Well this was a beauty.
2015 didn’t disappoint. Beautiful cherry flavours on the nose. Palate of red fruits and full body. Celebrated all the good things in life

Morgon Gamay 2015

Crunchy black cherries and all kinds of berries, roses and lilacs, distant notes of smoke, granite rocks and sous-bois funk. Wonderful acidity, slightly dusty at the end. Very harmonious stuff, good stuffing and structure, I’d say this is drinking beautifully now, yet has the backbone to survive, or even improve, for 5 years at least.

On day 2: fruit turns more serious - deeper, darker - and savory notes enter the spectrum. Acidity melts into the wine, as well. Yum..!
Up a notch!

Side by side with the 16-nod goes to the 16. This came across a bit sweet and has lost some of it edge. — 6 years ago

Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Nice long legs, dark purplish color hints of cherry and coco and nice balance from the American oak soften tannins but still a full body — a year ago

Caymus Vineyards

Special Selection Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Super sweet and oaky on first open but matured up with a 3 hour decant

Still quite fruity but with steak, it gives a lot of red berry fruit and the oak is reasonable and the sweetness is gone with the airtime.

Overall good wine but I thought it lost out to the Paul Hobbs LPV ‘14.

Produttori del Barbaresco

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2015

Popped and poured; consumed over a three hour period. No formal notes. The 2015 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco pours a deeper garnet color with a translucent core. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. No signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is currently bursting with red and dark fruits: blackberries, Luxardo cherry, pomegranate, green herbs, red flowers, green herbs, and tar. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. The notes on the nose are confirmed. The finish is long and savory. Really compelling stuff in the context of the night. I think the 2015’s are drinking so well right now. Unfortunately, this is my last bottle of the “classico” but I’ll be on the hunt for more if I can score at a good price. Drink now if you’re going to allow for some evolution in the glass or enjoy through 2035. — 3 years ago

I find with 15 when they are good they are amazing but i’ve also found many to be hot, alcoholic, unbalanced and weird intense tannins then they are bad. but PDB never missed.

@Lyle Fass agree 💯. 2015 is one of my least favorite vintages in Piemonte in the last 15+ years. That being said, some were capable of outstanding wines

Jean Foillard

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2015

First try of Foillard and it does live up to the (high) reputation. There’s such a lovely tamed softness here with exceptional integration and length on the palate that I don’t feel the need to qualify that in the context of the grape/region. This is a sophisticated wine that I’m happily drinking now but will surely age well for 5-10 years. — 5 years ago

SP68 Terre Siciliane Nero d'Avola Frappato 2015

Yup, got some barnyard action, but it’s still very good. Barnyardy funk nudges out sappy red berry fruit on the nose. The palate is crisp and intense, with way less funk than the nose. Electric cherry fruit, crushed high-toned rock, and an intense savory component. Long, mouthwatering finish. — 7 years ago
